Job Description

• Research and reports on current social media channels, video content, trends and content.

• Creative development with the producer to support the shaping of a social media platform aimed at a youth audience (14 - 24).

• Attend meetings and workshops with young people, community organisations, social media influencers and creatives. 

• Working with young people and the producer to hone the channel’s identity and tone of voice. 

• Collaborating with young people to create content for the channel. 

• Writing copy and creating social media posts and content to support the channel’s launch and build an audience. 

• Supporting the producer with social media channel management including analytics, responding to messages, and archiving content. 

• Uploading content to the channel and working with the producer to ensure reach to as wide an audience as possible. 

Person specification

• The most important quality by far is someone who has a deep love and knowledge of social media content, trends, video, music, pop & youth culture for under 25s including Instagram, Twitch, Tik Tok, YouTube & IGTV.

• You will be packed full of ideas with a love for creating content through video, design, photography and writing. 

• A solid knowledge of uploading and managing content on social media platforms. 

• You must be organised, reliable and motivated to work to a high standard, as well as able to work online from home, and function as part of a team, and comfortable working with young people aged 14 - 19. 

Strongly Desirable Skills 

• Experience in some way shape or form of creating video content (of any kind).

• A basic ability to use Canva, Photoshop, Premiere or similar visual design and / or editing software. 

• Good connections with young creatives in Hastings and East Sussex. 

• Experience of, or a desire to learn skills in, social media marketing. 

Fee and payment

The inclusive fee of £2,000 is based on a daily rate of £80 at the national living wage. This is a flexible role to some extent, with some agreed meeting times and deadlines, but the successful candidate will be able to manage their time appropriately to work around other projects. 

The nature of the project means that you may need to work some weekends and evenings as required.

Payment will be made as a freelancer by submission of invoice. The postholder is responsible for all and/or any other tax payments that they may owe as a result of this employment and will make arrangements for them to be paid directly to HMRC including PAYE, NI and VAT if applicable.

We are part of Ramshackle Productions, an award winning production company specialising in video & digital content who have worked with global icons, brands, labels & broadcasters across music, tv, entertainment, documentary, design & performing arts.
